Preamble

The programme, Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM), was started in response to a request by Central Banks in Kenya and the region to have in place a postgraduate course in financial management.  It is offered in collaboration with Moi University.  One of the main functions of the department is to prepare students in economic management and policy analysis.   The purpose of this programme is to provide an opportunity for participants who would wish to pursue or strengthen their careers in financial management.  The programme covers a wide range of courses drawn from various areas in economics and finance.  It meets the demands of both finance and non-finance managers. 

Admission Requirements:
A candidate must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements in addition to specific programme requirements:
Either
a) Holders of a degree of Moi University in Economics, Business Management or any other recognized University or
b) Holders of qualifications considered by Senate to be equivalent to a University degree
Programme  Objectives:
The board objectives of the PGDFM  programme  is to  provide a solid Foundation, for  the participants, in the area of Financial management. At the end of this programme, participants will be able to among others to:
a) To acquire in depth knowledge in financial management.
b) o give opportunity for higher degree studies in the area of financial management
Target Audience
This programme targets those working or intending to work in finance departments  banks, private equity houses, insurance companies, asset management institutions and government institutions but may or may not be having requisite economic and business background
Progranne Duration
The programme will be taken on full day/evening or part-time mode over a period of 10 months or three 14 week  semesters.
