INSTITUTE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS (IMIS) DIPLOMA

This course leads to the award of a Diploma and is examined by the Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) of the United Kingdom.  The subjects offered per semester are:

Part l (one semester)

• D21   Information Systems Practice
• D22   Business Fundamentals
• D23   Communications & Business Technology

Part II (one semester)

• D24   Programming & Web Applications
• D25   Business Information Systems
• D26   Information Systems Building

Minimum entry requirements

Any one of:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade C or KCE credit 6 in four subjects including English and either Mathematics, Accounts or Physics.

- Those over 19 years of age who can satisfy the School of their ability to successfully pursue the course.

- IMIS Foundation Diploma

- Other equivalent qualifications

Course dates

1st Semester: January - May
2nd Semester: July - November

The course duration is one year (2 semesters). A student can join in January and complete the course in December or join in July and complete the course in June of the following year.

Tuition fees

Kshs 18,750 per semester.

Examinations and fees

Examinations for IMIS Diploma are done twice a year in June and December. The fees in Sterling Pounds are:

Application for membership: £ 30
Annual Subscription: 36
Exam fee per paper: £ 23
Invigilation fee per sitting: £ 21

Library fees and caution money

Library fees: Ksh. 1,250 per semester (non-refundable)
Caution money: Ksh. 4,000 (refundable on completion of the course)
Activity fee: Ksh. 600 (per semester)

This course is offered to those students who have attained the IMIS Diploma. The subjects offered per semester are:

Part I (one semester)

• H31   Management Information Systems
• H35   Project Management
• H33   Contemporary Information Systems Development

Part II (one semester)

• H34   Database Development
• H32   Information Systems Strategy
• H36   Business Information Systems Project

Minimum entry requirements

Successful completion of IMIS Diploma.

2nd Semester: July - November
