The School is managed by an Executive Director who reports to the Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya and the KSMS Board. His immediate assistants include: Director - Research Centre and Assistant Director, Finance & Administration

The Director - Research Center is responsible for setting up a Research Center at the School. This is a new Division also created from the restructuring programme that is ongoing at the Central Bank of Kenya.  The Assistant Director, Finance & Administration is responsible for the finance and administration issues in the School.



Executive Director
Prof. Kinandu Muragu (PhD)

Professor Kinandu Muragu joined Central Bank of Kenya as Executive Director, Kenya School of Monetary Studies on May 02, 2008.  He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree, an MBA (Finance & Accounting) from the University of Nairobi and a PhD (Finance) from the University of Glasgow, UK. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Accountants of Kenya (FCPA).

Before joining the School, Prof. Muragu worked under the sponsorship of the World Bank as the Projects Coordinator for the 19 Donor-funded Education Sector Development Programme in the Kingdom of Lesotho. He was responsible for creation of the e-governance system for the education sector that enabled him participate in the implementation of the e-schools project in Lesotho and thereafter follow progress of the initiative across the continent.

He has consulted for a variety of international organizations such as the World Bank, World Food Programme and UNICEF. He has also held the position of Dean of Finance and Administration and Chief Finance Officer at the United States International University-Africa where he was also Associate Professor of Finance.

Prof. Muragu has also carried out consulting assignments in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Swaziland as a Senior Consultant for the Eastern and Southern African Institute (ESAMI), one of Africa’s top management institutes.

Before joining ESAMI, he had lectured at the University of Nairobi for 10 years rising to be a senior lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance. Prof. Muragu had his basic accountancy training at Delloite and Touche and later at Pricewaterhouse and Nyaga Associates.

As Executive Director of the School, Prof. Kinandu is charged with providing overall intellectual & professional leadership as well as guidance to fulfil the Vision, Mission and aspirations of the School.



Mr BA Korir
Director, Research Centre


Mr. Nicholas Bartuiyot Tirop Arap Korir, Director Research Centre, was born on February 5, 1955. He holds an MA (Econ. & Social Studies) degree from University of Manchester (1985) and a BA (Econ) from the University of Nairobi (1980).

Mr. Korir joined the Central Bank of Kenya on January 5, 1981 as a Graduate Trainee after a short stint at the Kenya Industrial Estates as a Project Economist. He worked in various divisions of Research Department, rising through the ranks to Deputy Director, Research Department in 1993 and to Director, Policy Analysis & Research in August 2004.

He is actively involved in key economic and policy analysis. He has attended various local and international courses and seminars on macroeconomic policy management and has written various policy papers.





 

Mr K Suuji
Assistant Director, Finance & Administration


Mr. Kishanto Ole Suuji - Assistant Director, Finance & Administration at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) joined Central Bank of Kenya on 16th December, 1991 as an Assistant Superintendant. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Government from the University of Nairobi. He is a Member of the Institute of Procurement and Supplies Management of Kenya (IPSM).

Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Suuji worked in the Office of the President, Provincial Administration, as a District Officer.

Mr. Suuji worked in various Divisions within the Department of Estates, Supplies and Transport (DEST) for sixteen years rising through the ranks to the Manager Procurement. While in DEST, he attended various courses and actively participated in the initial implementation of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005 and the Public Procurement and Disposal Regulations 2006. In August 2008, he was appointed Administrator, Staff Clinic Division, Human Resources Department where he served till June 2009 when he was appointed to head Transport Division, DEST.

Mr. Suuji joined the School in December 2010, Office of Assistant Director, Finance and Administration in charge of Finance, Information Technology, Procurement, Conference Centre, Administrative Services divisions and Management of Projects in the School. He is the Deputy to the Executive Director, KSMS.
